it was all a dream

Every cliche in the book can apply to my year. It was a blink, a blur, two snaps of the finger…and then it’s midnight and I’m kissing in another new year with my Mr. Man. 2012 holds my wildest dreams, and I hope, yours as well.

My favorite drink: vodka & water with lime juice

ZARA dress / ZARA evening gloves

Tristan stockings / ALDO shoes

2012 goal: I cook for my friends and/or family twice a month (This is going to be BIG for me. And you better believe I will try and do it in heels)

It’s been a blur. Cheers to 2012, my darling.

one of a kind

Last weekend I was invited to the grand opening party for The Board Of Trade, a boutique on the edge of Vancouver’s Chinatown. I was able to meet with David and Eunice (the owners of the store) and above the hub bub of the stylish crowd, they shared their store’s story.

If you’re looking for one of a kind pieces, this is the place to go. David and Eunice source labels from all over the world and in small quantities. The chosen pieces are intentional and I feel that the store is probably a very tight edit of what their own closets probably look like.

What I’ll be back for:

-The jewelery hanging by the cash desk. Unicorns and toy soldiers cast in metal. It’s amazing.

-Shoes for my boyfriend. I’m eyeing a few pairs of slip-ons for him for Christmas.

What I’ll remember to check in regularly for:

-Tees and jackets that only 10-12 other lucky people in Vancouver may get to own.

PS: If you’re in to minimalistic design, this store is all that and more.

In love with almost every piece they had hanging in their accessories section

mr. me too

Image from Men of Habit

I’ve seen this man here and there on different street style blogs for years and the way he dressed always caught my eye, made me pause and take in every detail. This year I finally discovered who he was. Thanks to a tweet I caught in my newsfeed from Bergdorf Goodman, the man now had a name and career: Nickelson Wooster, Men’s Fashion Director at Bergdorf Goodman.

A few weeks ago I entered PROJECT at WWDMAGIC and saw a booth in the distance that literally stood out from all the others. After making my way to it, my eyes were treated to a fantastic edit of menswear with a most creative display for all the clothing. Knick knacks, art and accessories were strewn everywhere and complimented the look and feel of the space. I walked about slowly, taking it all in and daydreaming about the type of man who would (and could) dress this way. Everything beckoned me to touch, feel and keep forever. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw flashbulbs going off and turned to it. I saw his well tailored jacket first, the well groomed hair second and my heart skipped a beat when I realized who it was. Mr. Wooster, it was an honor to have stood within 10 feet from you.

twisted

I was kindly gifted this DKNY sweater during my trip to WWDMAGIC and was immediately taken by the fact that it came with its own manual. Aptly named “The Cozy”, the little booklet comes with 12 suggestions. Once I got home and took the time to play with this piece, it became clear that I could twist, tie and wrap my way to many more.

Fall is at the doorstep, it’s time to cozy up to the DKNY Cozy.

Thank you DKNY for my new cardigan!

What makes the Cozy ideal for twisting and tying? The thin cashmere silk knit.

DKNY Cozy / lululemon lab tank / Aritzia liquid leggings / BCBG booties

The Belted Cozy

  • Tuck the left end piece into the top of your right shoulder
  • Pull the right panel over your front to close
  • Belt at waistline
  • Allow the right panel to fall over and adjust accordingly
  • Stare intensely into the distance. Ha. Just kidding.

The Hooded Cozy

  • Flip the cardigan upside down
  • Follow the directions to “The Cowl Neck Cozy”
  • Pull the fabric over your head as you dash across the street, protecting your coif from the sudden downpour*

*Editor’s note: This is only good for short distances
